Here Comes New Year's Day

by Curtis Eller

supported by

This is a brand-new holiday song, recorded in the classic, 1960's style that meant so much to me when I was growing up in Detroit. You'll find no presidential assassinations, Hollywood tragedies, factory fires, or civil unrest this time. It's just the simple story of a heartbroken tightrope walker who's feeling blue on New Year's Eve. I thnk we all know how that feels. Here's to the promise of brighter days ahead. Don't look down!

I should've seen it coming
New Year's Eve
All alone in the spotlight
How could you leave?
When you're a man on a wire
You don't look down
But I hung my head when you told me
You don't want me around

One slip and I'm tubling to the net
I can't take that first step
I can't face it
New Year's Day
I can't face it, but here it comes anyway
Ooo, ooo, ooo
Oh here it comes
Here comes New Year's Day

Like the fears of a tightrope walker (oh yeah)
The tears of a clown (tears of a clown)
I got a heart full of misery (oh yeah)
Pulling me down

Lonely teardrops are falling under that big tent
I don't know where the good times went
I can't face it
New Year's Day
I can't face it, but here it comes anyway
Ooo, ooo, ooo
Here comes New Year's
Ooo, ooo, ooo
Here comes New Year's
I just can't face it...oh hear it comes...
New Year's Day, New Year's Day
New Year's Day, New Year's Day...
